hayama / falling again

By the time Hayama makes his painful regression to his old self, only his closest friends remember his old personality. For the rest of the world, Akito is a silent, weird but kind kid, who wouldn't hurt a fly.

Sana's work sent her away precisely at the moment Akito had decided to finally confess his feelings to her (since they were obvious to everyone but the girl she was in love with). The movie's setting made it impossible for her to talk to his friends and so Akito and Sana were completely separated for the first time. Time skipped and rumors of Sana being going out with Kamura Naozumi (her co-star in the movie) reached Akito.

Sana hadn't called him for ages, and since he was sure of her obliviousness to his feelings, he began doubting them himself. Was she in love with Sana? Or did he just want her attention, like a stray dog? True, he had stole two kisses from her already, but Sana seemed to remain undisturbed by them. At that time, Matsui Fuuka (Sana's best friend) asked him out, and he agreed to it. He thought Sana had dumped him and besides, he liked Fuuka in her own way (he later said he would've not gone out with her if that hadn't been true).

He didn't even suspect Sana's reaction when she found out about that. She was so curious about her own violent reaction to the news, she suddenly realized she must be in love with Hayama. The timing has always been terrible for these two. By the time Sana comes back, she's so hurt to find out her friends had believed some rumors instead of waiting for her version, she slaps Akito and stops talking to him. She hides in her job, just so it doesn't hurt her so much.

Just then, Naozumi (in love with Sana himself, but in such a mature way he actually prefers her to be happy) lets Hayama know she's in love with him. Hayama is more than shocked and confronts Sana about it. That's when they both find out they love each other, but can't do anything about it -- Fuuka is both their friend and they don't want to hurt her.

This "so close yet so far away" situation begins bringing Hayama's worst out of him, till the point when those angry bitter eyes of him return and goes back to the point he started. Fuuka didn't have a clue about that Hayama and is at a loss about what's happening to him. He's in fact, worse than ever and he can't find a way out of that situation alone.

Tsuyoshi tells Sana about this, and her sole presence makes him revert again to his true calm self. Whether they like it or not, Sana has become an essencial part of Hayama's life, he simply can't live without her (at least at this turning point of his life). Hayama is more thankful to Sana for saving him than he can manage to express, but he eventually would return the favour.
